The Irish Pharmacy News awards are held every year to recognise the achievements of leading companies bringing new products and innovative services to Irish pharmacies. This year’s awards ceremony took place on Thursday March 3rd, at the Talbot Hotel in Stillorgan, Dublin and was hosted by TV3 presenter Sybil Mulcahy.

Having won the award for Best New Pharmacy Product in 2015, Alflorex was nominated in two categories at this year’s IPN awards. Against some tough industry competition, Alflorex was awarded Best Natural Product and Best GI (Gastrointestinal) Product.

The expert judging panel of 30 was drawn from independent and multiple pharmacies across Ireland. Judges were chosen for their experience in the pharmacy field and knowledge of the OTC market. The experts were presented with an example of every product and in any case, were familiar with them in their working practice.

Carmel Wycherley, Clinical Manager with Alimentary Health, accepted the awards on behalf of the company and commented:
“The 35624™ culture in Alflorex® is the result of more than 15 years of research and extensive clinical trials. We are delighted to have won these two awards which gives further testimony to the difference the product has made to the lives of many of our customers, many who have suffered in silence for years” (Please look at our testimonials section for more information)

While Alimentary Health CEO, Dr Barry Kiely, who founded AH in 1999, said following receipt of the awards:
“We are delighted to win, not one, but two awards at this year’s IPN awards. A huge amount of research and effort has gone into developing Alflorex® and we are delighted to get such a strong endorsement yet again this year from Irish pharmacists. We would like to thank all our industry partners. Alflorex® continues to be a very successful product for us and we have many new and exciting products in the pipeline. We are enthusiastic about the years ahead.”
